Vikram Samvat counts years from 57 BCE and is traditionally linked to the legendary king Vikramaditya. It is widely used in northern and western India for religious dates and is the official calendar era of Nepal, where it is about 56 to 57 years ahead of the Common Era. Its years are lunisolar in India and solar in Nepal.
