Shaka era
About the Shaka era
The Shaka era begins in 78 CE and became the standard era of Indian astronomers. The Indian national calendar adopted in 1957 counts its years in the Shaka era, so it is 78 or 79 years behind the Common Era. It is also used in Javanese and Balinese calendars.
