Vesak
About the Vesak
Buddhists across South and Southeast Asia mark the birth, enlightenment and passing of the Buddha on the full moon of the lunar month Vesakha, which usually falls in May. Sri Lanka and Southeast Asia keep the full moon day itself, while some East Asian traditions separate the events. The UN recognized the Day of Vesak in 1999.
