Diwali
About the Diwali
Diwali, the festival of lights, centres on the new moon night of the lunar month Kartika in the amanta reckoning, called Ashvin in the purnimanta system. It therefore falls in October or November. For many Hindu communities, especially in Gujarat, the day after Diwali begins the new Vikram Samvat year.
