Olympiad
About the Olympiad
Greek historians dated events by Olympiads, four-year periods beginning with the traditional first Olympic Games of 776 BCE. Timaeus of Tauromenium popularised the system in the third century BCE. A date might be written as the third year of the 90th Olympiad, and the reckoning was used by scholars until late antiquity.
