Indian national calendar
About the Indian national calendar
India's official civil calendar, also called the Saka calendar, was adopted on 22 March 1957, which became 1 Chaitra 1879 Saka. It counts years from the Shaka era of 78 CE and has 12 months of 30 or 31 days, with leap years matching the Gregorian ones. It appears alongside the Gregorian date in the Gazette of India and on All India Radio broadcasts.
