Thai solar calendar
About the Thai solar calendar
King Chulalongkorn adopted a Gregorian-based solar calendar for Siam in 1888. Years were first counted in the Rattanakosin Era, then from 1912 in the Buddhist Era, which is 543 years ahead of the Common Era. In 1941 the new year moved from 1 April to 1 January, so the year 2483 BE lasted only nine months.
