About the China's adoption of the Gregorian calendar, 1912
The new Republic of China adopted the Gregorian calendar from 1 January 1912, numbering years in the Minguo era. Warlord rule meant uneven take-up, and the traditional calendar persisted for daily life. The People's Republic kept the Gregorian calendar from 1949 but numbered years in the Common Era.
