Solar Hijri calendar
About the Solar Hijri calendar
The Solar Hijri calendar, official in Iran and also used in Afghanistan, counts years from the Hijra of 622 but follows the Sun, starting each year at the March equinox with Nowruz. The Iranian parliament adopted its modern form on 31 March 1925. The first six months have 31 days, the next five 30, and Esfand 29 or 30. Afghanistan uses the same structure with Arabic zodiac month names.
