Russia's calendar change, 1918
About the Russia's calendar change, 1918
A decree signed by Lenin made Wednesday 31 January 1918 followed by Thursday 14 February. This is why the October Revolution of 25 October 1917 (Julian) was commemorated on 7 November. The Russian Orthodox Church kept the Julian calendar, so it celebrates Christmas on 7 January.
