Juche calendar
About the Juche calendar
North Korea counts years from the 1912 birth of Kim Il Sung, alongside the Gregorian calendar, under a system adopted on the third anniversary of his death in 1997. The Gregorian month and day are kept, so 1 Juche 90 is 1 January 2001. Documents in North Korea often carry both years, with the Juche one first.
